Reason YouTuber Jack Doherty is facing 7 years in prison

Jack Doherty could face a period of seven years behind bars after his arrest in Florida last week.

The controversial YouTuber was arrested in Miami on Saturday (15 November) after a police search found ‘half of an orange oval-shaped pill with 3 imprinted on it consistent with a Schedule II amphetamine’, as well as three ‘suspected cannabis cigarettes’.

Doherty was taken to Miami-Dade County jail after his arrest on Saturday (November 15)

The influencer’s bond was set for $3,500, and he was released after being held for around 10 hours – though that doesn’t mean Doherty won’t face time behind bars, as he could be landed with three serious charges.

The 22-year-old’s first charge is a third-degree felony, with the latter two standing as first-degree misdemeanours.

Florida law states that third-degree felonies are punishable by ‘a term of imprisonment not exceeding five years’, and a first-degree misdemeanour can see you spend a year in prison.

So, if the YouTuber is found guilty and gets the maximum sentence for each count, he could spend up to seven years behind bars.

That is very much the worst-case scenario for the YouTuber, however, with a report from Measures for Justice stating that an average of 24 months was handed to those convicted of nonviolent felonies without any convictions in the state in the past three years.

Furthermore, the report said that under 8.5 percent of the total group faced jail time at all, from a conviction rate of over 58 percent.

Doherty’s arrest comes after he brutally pranked OnlyFans model McKinley Richardson at their wedding ceremony in Las Vegas earlier this month – something he live-streamed online.

The YouTuber pulled a pre-nuptial agreement at the ceremony, which stated that she ‘gets absolutely nothing when I divorce her, even if I cheat’.

“If she cheats, she automatically owes me $10 million. I’ll also receive 100 per cent of her OF revenue moving forward, even if we divorce,” Doherty claimed.

Richardson was able to get out of the situation as the wedding was not legally binding.

He also caused controversy in 2024 when he crashed a $200k McLaren supercar in Miami and appeared to show more concern for the car than his cameraman in the passenger seat, who was bleeding and injured.

Doherty filmed his arrest on the weekend, taking to Instagram in one video to say he was ‘free’ and that NBC were waiting to interview him, even revealing some people he’d met in jail before saying: “Party outside of the jail cell, let’s get it.”

Some of Doherty’s new prison pals were even filmed, while holding a bag of possessions, asking: “How was I like in jail? Was I running that s*** or what?”
