Dolly Parton is a really famous singer and actress who’s loved by a lot of people, especially for her country music. She’s been singing and performing for her fans for her whole life and has always been really friendly and easy to like.
But now, after 76 years of touring around and performing in front of crowds, Dolly has decided to stop touring. That means she won’t be doing any more big concerts or shows where she travels to different places. She’s not quitting music altogether, though. She still wants to make new songs and albums, just not perform them live.
Dolly explained her decision to stop touring recently. She said she’ll only do special shows from now on, ones that are unique and different.
Before, Dolly’s tours were big and included lots of concerts. But now, she’s changing things up. She wants to spend more time with her husband and focus more on making music.
Dolly first met her husband, Carl Dean, in Tennessee in 1964 when she was 18 and he was 21. Right away, Carl thought Dolly was really special.
According to an interview, when they first met, Dean said, “I’m going to marry that girl.”
After a few months of dating, they married in a small ceremony on May 17th, 1966. They have been married for more than 50 years and are still going strong.
Dolly remembers that Carl caught her eye because he was really good-looking. He first noticed her when he called out to her from his pickup truck. But when he asked her out on a date, she said no and instead invited him to her house a few days later. That’s how they started going out, and they fell in love fast.
What’s the secret to their long-lasting relationship? They’ve definitely faced tough times over the years, but they’ve always been able to overcome them together.
Maybe it’s their strong love for each other or their shared passion for country music. Either way, Dolly and Carl Dean are truly inspiring.
They got married in a small, private ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia, in May 1966. Dolly’s record company wanted them to wait because of her career.
But Dolly and Carl didn’t want to wait any longer, so they got married quietly in Georgia instead of Tennessee, where nobody would make a big deal out of it. Only Dolly, Carl, and her mom were there.
Since their wedding anniversary in 2016, Dolly and Carl have been really in love. They decided to renew their vows to celebrate their love.
As they grow older, Dolly and Carl want to spend even more time together. Dolly talked about her experiences touring in an interview with Pollstar:
“I’ve been doing that my whole life; it’s a lot of time and effort. I’d rather be closer to home with my husband. As we’re getting older, I don’t want to be away for long periods, like four or five weeks.”
“I wouldn’t feel right if I was gone and someone needed me. It would be awful if I had to end a tour early because someone at home needed me, and I couldn’t leave my fans.”
The singer says her latest songs will also be considered rock and roll. She was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. Her marriage has had a big impact on her work, and she’s excited to keep making songs in that style.
