The pair got married months after their September engagement
Cory Booker and Alexis Lewis are married.
The U.S. Senator, 56, and the real estate investment firm director, 38, said “I do” during two separate wedding ceremonies, both of which took place at sentimental locations for the couple.
The first happened on Monday, Nov. 24, in Newark, N.J. — central to many big moments in Booker’s political career. The pair was joined by their parents as witnesses, The New York Times reported.
A second wedding celebration followed days later on Saturday, Nov. 29, in Washington, D.C., where the couple was joined by loved ones, the outlet said. Lewis wore a gown by House of Gilles and Booker wore a classic tuxedo.

Booker and Lewis announced their wedding news through joint Instagram posts on Sunday, Nov. 30.
The first showed the pair during their Newark courthouse wedding at the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The second showed Booker and Lewis’ nuptials in the nation’s capital.
“Overflowing with gratitude. We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us — Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C. — first at the courthouse, then with our families,” the couple captioned both social media posts.
“Hearts full and so grateful,” Booker and Lewis added.

Booker, a former presidential candidate, announced his engagement to Lewis via social media back in September.
“Alexis is one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life. She has transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love,” he captioned an Instagram carousel. “I’m thrilled to share: Alexis and I are engaged!”
“I am savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancée,” his caption continued, adding: “We are excited for this journey ahead.”
Booker’s five-photo post was filled with tropical photos of the couple before, during and after he popped the question.
They each wore Hawaiian leis around their necks, and in his first picture, Booker and Lewis smiled as she held up her hand to show off her engagement ring.
A month later, Booker was a guest on the I’ve Had It podcast, where he said he didn’t want to waste any time getting married.
“I’ve had it with being single. 100%. Being single is not fun, especially when you’re trying to date,” he told hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan in mid-October. “And as a United States Senator, it’s been a difficult, challenging time. So I’ve had it with that, and I’m very psyched that I’m getting married.”

The Democratic lawmaker added, “We’re going to do it before the end of the year, quick.”
Booker said during the podcast appearance that he and Lewis also intend to have children together in the near future.
Prior to going public, Booker told Washington Examiner‘s congress and campaigns editor David Sivak in August that he and Lewis had been together for “a year and a half” after they were introduced through friends.
