Bus carrying middle school football players to a game crashes in Pennsylvania, injuring 21

Nearly two dozen middle school football players were injured when their bus crashed in western Pennsylvania Saturday morning, according to reports.

Of the 25 Aliquippa Middle School students and two adults on the bus, 21 people suffered injuries in the crash, and several of the young football players have been rushed to the hospital, WPXI reported.

Other students were picked up by their parents and taken to the hospital, according to reports. A Facebook post encouraged parents to head to the fire station in Ambridge to meet their child.

The accident happened in Economy, just outside Pittsburgh, as the team was heading to a game at Pine-Richland Middle School in Gibsonia, according to WTAE.

The bus sustained front-end damage in the crash, as it downed multiple power lines and poles.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
