At least 8 dead in rush hour horror as bus filled with people collides with train

At least eight people have died and 45 injured after a train crashed into a double-decker bus northwest of Mexico city, according to reports.

The crash happened in the industrial zone of the town of Atlacomulco. Authorities are at the scene.

A video on social media showed the bus slowly moving across train tracks before the train suddenly rammed into its midpoint, dragging it out of frame.

There was no gate or signal visible in the video, but other cars were seen crossing the tracks before the bus.

Another video on social media showed the bus after the crash resting on the side of the tracks. The roof was gone and people could be seen moving on top of the double decker.

‘On the Atlacomulco–Maravatío Federal Highway (industrial zone), a train struck a double-decker passenger bus on the Herradura de Plata line,’ Mexico’s Civil Protection agency confirmed in a statement. ‘Eight people were reported dead and 45 injured, who were treated by emergency services.’
