A federal jury in Minnesota has found Jennifer Marie Stately guilty of murdering her two young sons in a incident that happened nearly two years ago.
Stately, now 37, stabbed her 6-year-old son, Remi Stately, multiple times in their home on March 15, 2024, leading to his death. She then poured gasoline and lighter fluid around the house and lit fires near the exits, trapping her 5-year-old son, Tristan Stately, inside where he died from smoke inhalation.
After the attack, Stately grabbed her 3-year-old son and fled the scene. Authorities issued an Amber Alert, and she was caught about an hour later thanks to a tip from a driver who spotted her. The surviving child showed signs of severe neglect, including untreated sores on his face and feet, bad body odor from not being bathed, and rotted teeth.
The trial lasted about two and a half weeks, with jurors taking just one hour to deliberate and reject Stately’s insanity defense.
