Noah Wyle used the Golden Globes stage to deliver a special birthday message to his wife, Sara Wells.
The actor, 54, won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards for his work in the hit drama, The Pitt. During his acceptance speech, he gave a shoutout to his “incredible” wife and added a special birthday message.
At the 83rd annual ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 11, the star said, “What a truly humbling moment is this. Oh, my goodness. I’m so incredibly grateful, and I don’t know how to say all my gratitude for 54 years in 60 seconds.”
“I’m indebted to so many people,” he continued, expressing his gratitude for his fellow nominees.
“I’ve been supported by an incredible wife and three great children all along the way,” Wyle said, in reference to his two kids Owen and Auden, whom he shares with ex Tracy Warbin, and his daughter Frances with Wells.

He also thanked the voting members of the Golden Globes, HBO Max, John Wells Productions, and healthcare workers around the world, among others.
Before concluding his speech, Wyle turned the topic back onto his wife. “Lastly, to my beautiful wife, Sara, happy birthday. I hope you’re enjoying your party,” he said.
Among the other nominees were Sterling K. Brown for Paradise, Diego Luna for Andor, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, Mark Ruffalo for Task and Adam Scott for Severance.
Wyle stars in The Pitt as Dr. Michael “Robby” Rabinovitch, an attending at a Pittsburgh hospital. Each episode of the popular series follows an hour of a 15-hour shift in the emergency room.
In October, he opened up to PEOPLE about the impact that the show has had on real-life medical professionals while co-hosting the Rape Treatment Center and Stuart House Annual Brunch.
“They feel that it contextualizes the work they do to their families and partners who they can’t often articulate it to,” he revealed. “I don’t want to articulate it, but they can nod their head when they say, ‘Is that what you do every day? Have you ever done that before? Have you ever seen that before?'”

He added, “I feel like that extra empathy it gives the support group around these workers is really invaluable.”
This is Wyle’s fourth Golden Globe nomination in his career. The Pitt is also up for Best Television Series – Drama at this year’s ceremony.
Brown, 49, stars in political thriller Paradise as a secret service agent and single father of two named Xavier Collins, who becomes the leading suspect in the investigation of the shocking murder of President Cal Bradford (James Marsden).
He previously opened up to PEOPLE about the project and reuniting with This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman after working together for six years when Brown played the lead on the beloved NBC drama.
“I’ve read 106 of his scripts up until I read [the] pilot, and then that was 107,” Brown explained, revealing that Fogelman wrote the Paradise role with him in mind. “And it was just as flipping good as the 106 that I worked with on him on This Is Us.”
Brown has received three total Golden Globe nominations, and won for Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama in 2018 for his role on This Is Us.
Luna, 46, plays the titular Cassian Andor — a thief who is recruited to become a Rebel spy — in Andor, a prequel to the 2016 standalone film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, where he originated the character.
While the series concluded with its second season in May, Luna opened up to PEOPLE ahead of the 2022 premiere about the excitement of being a part of the Star Wars universe.

“I still go back to feeling like a lucky kid that suddenly got to play in the playground he was dreaming of. It’s that kind of feeling because I did grow up with this universe,” he shared. “It’s part of my past so deeply, that being asked to do what I love the most in this universe is something I’m never going to get used to. And I shouldn’t.”
This was Luna’s third Golden Globe nomination.
In Slow Horses — an adaptation of author Mick Herron’s award-winning Slough House series — Oldman, 67, portrays Jackson Lamb, the leader of a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents whose career-ending mistakes landed them an unwanted spot at Slough House. When the show first premiered in 2022, Oldman joked that Slow Horses could be his way to leave Hollywood “with a bang.”
“It’s up to all the big people upstairs and the audience and obviously the viewership and what Apple [says],” he told Deadline at the time. “But, yeah, I could see myself playing Jackson for the next how many years.”
He added: “To be able to sort of wrap it all up playing Jackson Lamb, I would consider myself very honored and very lucky to be able to do that.”
Oldman has been nominated for five Golden Globes and won in 2017. He snagged the win for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his portrayal in Darkest Hour. Slow Horses is also up for Best Television Series – Drama this year.
Ruffalo, 58, stars in the seven-episode HBO miniseries Task as FBI agent Tom Brandis. According to the streaming service, the crime drama is “set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia,” where Brandis leads a task force attempting “to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man,” played by Tom Pelphrey.
Last year, Ruffalo shared how he prepared for the role: “I spent a lot of time with FBI agent Scott Duffey. That’s about the most I did.”
“I learned that the best FBI agents have a lot of empathy,” he later added.
This is Ruffalo’s third Golden Globe nomination. He earned his first win in 2021 for his performance in the limited series I Know This Much Is True.

In the hit Apple TV+ series Severance, Scott, 52, plays Mark Scout, a former history professor who is now a severed worker for Lumon Industries.
The show depicts a world in which one’s out-of-work self (the outie) is separate from their in-work self (the innie). Under this severance procedure, the innie will have no memory of the outside world and will exist solely inside the walls of Lumon, while the outie will have no memories of the job once they leave and will exist solely in the outside world.
In September, Scott spoke about the show’s several Emmy nominations while on the red carpet: “I think when we make the show, we’re just in it and trying to make the best show we can,” he said. “It’s a really tough show to make, but that’s why we like it.”
In addition to Scott’s nomination — which marks his second ever — Severance is up for Best Television Series – Drama, as well as Britt Lower and Tramell Tillman for their roles.
The 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards will take place in The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 8 p.m. ET, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
