“All In The Family” is considered one of the best TV shows ever made, and it still teaches important lessons today. Sally Struthers, a talented actress known for her blonde hair, was one of many who found success because of the show.

Although Sally Struthers has changed her looks over time, she remains important in entertainment. Many people remember her best for playing Gloria Stivic in the 1970s sitcom “All In The Family.”

The show followed the lives of a white working-class family in Queens, New York. During its run, it received an impressive 73 award nominations and won 42 of them.

Sally Struthers once said, “There are many different roles for women to play. I want to play a murderer, a single mother, a nun, and an elderly Jewish mother. When my career is over, I want to be remembered as funny as Judy Holliday and respected as Ruth Gordon.”

Being typecast can hurt an actor’s career. We often see actors become famous for one show but then struggle to find success in other roles.

Unfortunately, Sally Struthers faced a similar situation. She had significant roles in a few sitcoms after leaving “All In The Family” and even won two Emmys for playing Gloria. However, as time went on, she found fewer opportunities for big roles, and her career slowed down.

Sally Struthers, known for her role as Babette Dell on Match Game in the 1990s, which Gilmore Girls fans may recognize, stays busy with theater performances at Maine’s Ogunquit Playhouse. This theater puts on four or more plays each season. In 2022, she shared the role of Frau Blucher with AJ Holmes in Young Frankenstein at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, directed by Mel Brooks.

Beyond her acting career, Sally Struthers has been dedicated to advocating for underprivileged children in developing countries. She has been a spokesperson for the Christian Children’s Fund for many years and has appeared in several well-known TV commercials.

Sally is also a proud mother now, although she initially hesitated about starting a family. After speaking with psychiatrist William C. Rader, she changed her mind. She and her husband married in 1977, and their daughter Samantha was born in 1978.

“I never wanted kids until I met Bill,” Sally explained in a 1981 interview with People magazine. “I was sure having children wouldn’t make me happy, and I didn’t think I needed someone who looked like me.” But when you fall in love, you start to wish for a child to represent your love and your special bond.

Unfortunately, Sally’s marriage didn’t last. She and William C. Rader decided to separate in 1983. Their daughter, Samantha, chose a different career path and became a licensed psychologist. Today, she runs her own business.

Samantha is active on social media where she shares stories of her travels and offers wise advice. It’s clear she inherited some of her mother’s talents. Sometimes, Samantha even sings, showing off a voice as impressive as Sally’s.
