Whoopi Goldberg Denies Ties to Jeffrey Epstein After Her Name Surfaces in Files: ‘I Wasn’t His Girlfriend, I Wasn’t His Friend’

Whoopi Goldberg has addressed her name being found in the Epstein files, insisting it doesn’t mean she’s guilty of any wrongdoing.

In an episode of The View that aired Tuesday, Feb. 17, Goldberg talked about her name being in the Epstein files, evidence collected by the Department of Justice in relation to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Goldberg, 70, addressed the matter with co-hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines saying, “In the name of transparency, my name is in the files. Yes. And what does it say? It says, ‘Whoopi needs a plane to get to Monaco. John Lennon’s charity’ — it should say Julian Lennon’s charity — ‘is paying for it.”

She went on to explain that the charity was reaching out to private plane owners in order to arrange for her transportation.

“They give all the information. And they’re saying, ‘Do you want to offer your G2?’ ” she added.

Hostin interjected and said, “And it looks like they said, ‘No thanks.’

That’s when Behar gave her two cents, adding, “So, in other words, anybody could be on this list.”

“Anybody,” Goldberg agreed. “This is my point, because I’m telling you, when people are trying to turn me into… I wasn’t his girlfriend, I wasn’t his friend.”

“You used to have to have facts before you said stuff,” she added.

Behar then turned her focus to President Donald Trump and his reported apperances in the Epstein files, saying, “But Trump is on the list 38,000 times.”

“I can’t speak for him, but I’m speaking about me because I’m getting dragged!” Goldberg said. “People actually believe I was with him. Honey, come on. Every man I’ve ever been with, you’ve known about.. People wrote about this.”

“And no, I didn’t get on the plane,” she continued. “Because you know what I would have to do to get on the plane?” Goldberg

“Fly,” Behar answered, referencing her co-host’s documented fear of flying.

This isn’t the first time Goldberg has made it clear she had no ties to Epstein and never visited his island.

In a January 2024 episode of The View, she shut down rumors that she frequented the billionaire’s infamous island.

“Apparently, they said I was on the island. And I don’t go anywhere!” Goldberg said. “There’s just been a lot of stuff recently, I don’t know what I’ve done to anybody — but apparently there are a lot of the [tabloid] sites [and] people don’t realize they can be harmful.”

The talk show exchange came just a few days after U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter to Congress, announcing that the DOJ had released all of the files they were ordered to by the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

However, Epstein survivors and members of Congress alike have questioned the truth of that statement, given that some of the documents in the files were heavily redacted and others appeared to be removed from the website after being posted.

“These materials could have been released long ago, but they’re just being released now,” Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Democrat, told reporters on Feb. 9.

“I think that the Department of Justice has been in a cover-up mode for many months and has been trying to sweep the entire thing under the rug,” he added.
