What happens if someone buys Ozzy Osbourne’s estate with him buried in the backyard

After Ozzy Osbourne was laid to rest at his Buckinghamshire estate in the UK, questions have been raised from fans over what would happen if it was to ever be sold.

The iconic Prince of Darkness died at the age of 76 on July 22, mere weeks after he performed his final concert with his Black Sabbath bandmates.

On Wednesday (July 30), Ozzy’s wife of more than 40 years, Sharon Osbourne, and their children, Jack, Kelly and Aimee, appeared on the streets of Birmingham to mourn with music fans where a procession was held.

A black hearse carried Ozzy’s body across the city he was born and raised in before he was laid to rest in his 250-acre Buckinghamshire home on Thursday (July 31).

The metal vocalist famously instructed his family that he didn’t want to be cremated but buried ‘in a nice garden somewhere, with a tree planted over my head.’

“A crabapple tree, preferably – so that the kids can make wine out of me and get p***ed out of their heads,” he added in his 2010 autobiography, I Am Ozzy.

It appears his final wish has come true as sources say Ozzy has been laid to rest at a ‘beautiful’ spot on the lake near bat boxes – a nod to his notorious bat biting incident.

Now, questions have been raised about what would happen if the Osbourne family ever decided to sell the estate and what that would mean for the ‘Paranoid’ hitmaker’s grave.

According to UK law, it is legal to bury a loved one on private land providing permission is granted, though it does also come with some issues.

The government states complications may arise if the land is sold as the new owner would have no obligation to allow the family to visit the grave or maintain it.

“You would not be able to gain access to the burial place if you sold the property/land to someone else and you would not be able to continue to pay your respects to your loved one. This could cause a lot of heartache and upset,” the site states.

However, Forsters law firm adds that there could be some visitation rights attached to the land title, but this can be forgotten with time.

Still, there is no indication the Osbournes plan on selling up anytime soon or ever, as Ozzy once described the sprawling residence his as ‘sanctuary away from the spotlight.’

Ever since his funeral and burial, fans have laid flowers all across the streets of Birmingham, the Black Sabbath Bridge and outside the Osbourne’s estate to pay their respects.

Images from the procession also showed some heartbreaking details, with Ozzy’s widow not only wearing her late husband’s wedding ring on a gold chain around her neck but was flashing a peace sign, a gesture Ozzy often made.

His daughter, Kelly, was also seen sporting Ozzy’s iconic purple-tinted glasses.
