Vogue Williams shared the biggest misconception about her career that people have been getting wrong for years.
The 38-year-old presenter told MailOnline she feels “embarrassed” when people call her a “model,” which often happens even when she’s introduced on TV shows.
In an exclusive interview, Vogue said it’s frustrating because she’s never actually worked as a professional model.
Vogue Williams, a mom of three who first became well-known in 2010 on the Irish reality show Fade Street, shared a funny memory from her early career when she had to pose with her head inside a burger to promote a fast-food chain.
She said, “Oh my God, I am not a model. That’s the worst thing I’ve ever been called. Honestly, it’s my most embarrassing moment because I wasn’t really a model.”
Vogue Williams shared more about her early career, explaining how far she’s come since those days. She recalled doing photo shoots where she had her head inside a giant burger to promote a fast-food shop, joking, “That was the kind of ‘modeling’ I was doing, definitely not a real model.”
She laughed about how, even now, when she’s introduced on shows as a “model and presenter,” she cringes and feels like someone is trolling her. “The burger shoot was my level of modeling,” she joked.
Nearly 14 years later, Vogue has built a strong career, focusing on her love for interviewing celebrities and hosting several successful podcasts. Recently, she reached a big milestone by recording a pilot TV show, which she described as a “pinch me moment.” While the show may not go to air, she felt proud of how far she’s come and said it made all the hard work feel worth it.
Vogue, who married Spencer Matthews in 2018, hopes to one day co-host a Saturday night TV series with him. The couple also starred in their own Channel 4 reality show, which followed their lives and the arrival of their first child, Theodore, now six.
Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews now have three kids: a daughter named Gigi who is four, a son named Otto who is two, and they also have two dogs. Despite their busy family life, Vogue is still excited about the idea of working with Spencer on new TV projects.
She shared, “My dream job is to host a Saturday night show where I sit and chat with people. I’ve always wanted to do something like that; it would be so much fun.”
Vogue enjoys working with Spencer because he is interested, kind, and her best friend. She said she would love to collaborate with him.
After Otto was born in April 2022, Vogue mentioned she would like to have more children, but the past few years have made her unsure about that. She explained that Theodore and Gigi are already busy with activities like tennis, swimming, gymnastics, and athletics, making it hard to add anything else to their schedule.
She said, “I would absolutely love to have a fourth child. It makes me sad to think that Gigi won’t have a sister. But I don’t know how we could fit in more kids’ parties on the weekends.”
Vogue noted how busy their lives already are, mentioning that their weekends are packed with activities: “My kids have tennis on Saturday, swimming on Saturday, gymnastics on Sunday, running club on Monday, and athletics on Tuesday. There’s just so much going on; I don’t know how I would fit in more.”
Vogue Williams had to take care of their children all on her own while Spencer Matthews ran 30 marathons in 30 days, which he finished in August.
Spencer, a former star of Made In Chelsea, set a Guinness World Record by completing the ultramarathon in the Jordanian desert to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise charity.
As he prepared for the challenge, Vogue found it hard to believe he could do it and thought he would be back home early. She said, “I don’t think anyone thought Spencer was going to do it, me included. It was such a wild challenge. I thought he would be back around mid-August, and I honestly thought that because it seemed so crazy; I wondered how he could possibly do it. But he did it, and I’m super proud of him.”
Vogue said it wasn’t just that she had no contact with Spencer, but the hardest part was that he was gone for 40 days. She was busy organizing everything for the kids, especially since Gigi was starting school and Otto was starting nursery.
She explained, “I had to make sure all of that was organized. There was a lot of life admin to handle, plus I had to keep the kids happy since they weren’t in school and were home all the time. I had to constantly find things for them to do, which was quite a lot to manage.”
This week, Vogue Williams celebrated the launch of her new podcast, Never Live It Down, where she interviews comedians like Katherine Ryan and Tom Rosenthal. She also has guests like Jack Whitehall’s mother, Hilary, who share their most embarrassing moments.
Vogue said she felt so sick from laughing after recording the episodes that even Spencer found them funny. She shared, “It’s been a pleasure to record the podcast because I’ve had a lot of comedians on, and they’ve been outrageously hilarious. Every episode makes me feel sick from laughing by the end. I had such a great time recording with everyone.”
She was thrilled when Spencer gave her a big compliment, saying, “I couldn’t believe it, but I laughed out loud at your new pod.” She was surprised that he even listened and found it funny since he usually doesn’t laugh at podcasts.
As an experienced podcaster with previous shows like My Therapist Ghosted Me with Joanne McNally and Spencer & Vogue, Vogue believes that the guests are key to a successful series. She said, “Not everyone has been a comedian, but they’ve all been really funny and open.”
Vogue added, “When you do a podcast like this, the guests are everything, so I’ve been really lucky to have so many amazing people share interesting moments from their lives.”
