The last photos of Robert Redford before his death showed him doing what he loved — advocating for environmental change.
Nearly four years ago, the “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” actor and his wife, Sibylle Szaggars, attended the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation’s 2021 award ceremony at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
At the time, Redford and the German artist, 68, posed for photos at the annual ceremony, which pays tribute to leading individuals and organizations for their deep commitment to preserving the planet.

The Oscar winner wore an all-white suit with tan boots while his wife rocked an all-white dress and booties.
At one point, Redford, who wed Szaggars in 2009, held onto her arm as they posed for photographs and chatted with Prince Albert II.
The director, who won a special award at the ceremony in 2019, was a prominent activist known for his work in environmentalism, Native American issues and the arts.

In 2005, he and his late son James Redford launced their independent environmental nonprofit, The Redford Center, that was solely dedicated to environmental impact filmmaking.
A rep for Redford announced on Tuesday that the actor sadly passed away. He was 89.
“Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah — the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved,” the spokesperson told Page Six.
“He will be missed greatly. The family requests privacy.”
