Schoolboy allegedly sexually penetrated by his married teacher Naomi Tekea Craig made DNA claim before she had his baby – as former students reveal their disbelief

A schoolboy alleged to be the father of his former teacher’s baby appeared to publish a cryptic message about DNA tests before results came in.

Naomi Tekea Craig, 33, was arrested on January 6 after allegedly engaging in persistent sexual conduct with a teenage boy in Mandurah, a coastal city 70km south of Perth, between 2024 and 2025.

The married music teacher, who has been charged with penetrating a teenage schoolboy during what police allege was ongoing sexual abuse, has since given birth to a baby that police allege was fathered by her victim.

Ms Craig was working at the private, co-educational Frederick Irwin Anglican School in Meadow Springs at the time of the alleged offending.

However, she was pregnant with her second child and on maternity leave when she was arrested.

Police have now confirmed DNA testing has taken place, with the results allegedly establishing that the newborn is the child of her alleged victim.

Daily Mail can reveal the boy, who provided a DNA sample to investigators, made reference to a DNA test being conducted weeks before the baby was born.

Just weeks before Ms Craig gave birth, he posted on social media about the possibility of a child in the future, adding a cryptic comment about a DNA test. The whole message cannot be published for legal reasons.

Daily Mail does not suggest Ms Craig is guilty of the allegations, simply that she has been charged and her case is before the courts.

Meanwhile, former students of the teacher told Daily Mail that they were shocked by the news, claiming that Ms Craig had a great reputation.

‘She was my favourite teacher,’ one student said.

‘Everyone was just so shocked about it all because she always used to come outside and chat to all the kids at recess and lunch.’

Another student said: ‘She joined at the start of 2024 and was a very popular music teacher. Then she got suspended and honestly we just never thought something like that could happen.’

At the time of her arrest, Ms Craig was charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16, possessing child exploitation material, and persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16.

WA Police confirmed to Daily Mail that detectives are expected to lay an additional three charges when Ms Craig next appears at Mandurah Magistrates Court on January 27.

The additional charges will include one count of sexually penetrating a child of or over 13 and under 16, one count of indecent dealings with a child over 13 and under 16, and one count of indecent dealings with a child under 13.

Ms Craig has not yet entered a plea for any of the charges.

It is understood the alleged victim is no longer a pupil at Frederick Irwin Anglican School, which caters for students from kindergarten to Year 12.

Following the arrest, Principal Tracey Gray sent a letter to parents and carers confirming the alleged victim is not a current student.

‘I regret to inform you that a teacher from our school has been arrested by police and charged with child-related offences,’ Ms Gray wrote.

‘The teacher has been instructed not to attend the school.

‘The information available to the school suggests that there is no need for any concern for any children at the school.’

According to an online work biography, Ms Craig began employment at the school in 2024, having previously worked as an independent private music teacher.

The Daily Mail has previously revealed that Ms Craig is a married mother who also goes by Ms Woods, her marital surname.

Ms Craig already had one child with her husband

Posts on the school’s social media pages reveal Ms Craig, who was known to students as Ms Woods, was actively involved in their music events, including choirs, concerts, and shopping centre carols.

She was listed as being on maternity leave in a newsletter dated December 10, which has since been removed from the school’s website.
