Prince Philip’s Shocking Nickname for Meghan Markle Finally Exposed!

A royal expert recently revealed that the late Prince Philip had a not-so-nice nickname for Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.

The nickname hinted at a comparison to Wallis Simpson, the controversial wife of former King Edward VIII. Both Meghan and Wallis were American and divorced before they married into the royal family.

Prince Philip’s nickname for Meghan reflected this connection.

Wallis Simpson, an American divorcée, became the Duchess of Windsor and was one of the most controversial figures in royal history. King Edward VIII gave up the throne in December 1936, after less than a year as king, so he could marry her.

Back then, royals couldn’t marry someone who was divorced. This rule didn’t change until 2002, three years before Prince Charles married Camilla, according to the Royal Observer.

After King Edward married Wallis Simpson, they couldn’t come back to the UK without his brother, King George VI’s, permission because people worried it might cause public unrest, as reported by Vogue.

While living in exile, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor were often in the news. One of the most shocking events was in 1937 when they visited Nazi Germany and were photographed giving the Nazi salute when meeting Adolf Hitler.

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward shared Prince Philip’s views in an interview with GB News. She said he believed Meghan Markle and Wallis Simpson were quite similar, which is why he gave Meghan a secret nickname.

According to Seward, Prince Philip, known for his keen sense of character, saw many resemblances between Meghan and Prince Harry’s relationship and that of Edward and Mrs. Simpson.

“I think Prince Philip was very perceptive about people. He often tried to see the good in them,” Seward said.

“He couldn’t ignore the similarities between Meghan and Harry and Edward and Ms. Simpson. That’s why he called her the Duchess of Windsor. Not to her face, though; he called her DOW,” she added.

In her book ‘My Mother and I,’ Seward explored Prince Philip’s concerns about Meghan. She described him as “wary” of the former Suits actress and her potential impact on the royal family.

Since stepping back from their royal duties in 2020 and relocating to California, Meghan and Harry have maintained a relatively low profile within the royal sphere.

While Harry is set to visit the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, with a service to be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, according to the Daily Express. Meghan is expected to remain in the US, citing safety concerns and a desire to avoid stirring up controversy.

Despite occasional returns to the UK for significant events like Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022, Meghan has opted out of attending others, such as King Charles III’s coronation, which Harry attended alone last year.

It’s clear that Meghan is choosing to prioritizing her safety and peace amidst constant scrutiny and public interest in her relationship with the royal family.
