N.H. Mom Who Shared TikToks About Husband’s Brain Cancer Killed Him and 2 of Their Kids Before Turning Gun on Herself

Ryan Long, 48, Emily Long, 34, their son Parker, 8, and daughter Ryan, 6, were found dead at their Madbury, N.H. home on the morning of Monday, Aug. 18

A New Hampshire mother shot and killed her husband and two of her three young children before taking her own life in a tragic murder-suicide case, authorities have said.

Ryan Long, 48, Emily Long, 34, their son Parker, 8, and their daughter, Ryan, 6, were found dead, having suffered gunshot wounds, in their home in Madbury, N.H., on Monday, Aug. 18, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office previously said. A toddler was found in the home unharmed.

The autopsy results for the family have now been released, with findings confirming that Emily killed her husband and two children, before shooting herself, the state’s Attorney General confirmed in a news release, which was obtained by PEOPLE.

The results revealed that both of the children died from single gunshot wounds to the head, with their deaths being ruled homicides, the release stated.

Ryan — who had reportedly been diagnosed with brain cancer prior to this death — had been shot multiple times, and his death was also listed as a homicide, while Emily died from a single gunshot wound to the head, and her death was ruled a suicide.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office said, “Based upon the information available at this time, it appears that in the early morning hours of Monday, August 18, 2025, Ms. Long took a handgun from the home and caused the deaths of Ryan Long and her two children, Parker and Ryan, and then took her own life immediately thereafter,” per the release.

“While investigators are becoming aware of various concerns/issues ongoing in the household at the time of the event in question, people should avoid speculating that this event was caused by a single reason or stressor,” the release added.

Chief Medical Examiner Jennie V. Duval didn’t immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for additional information.

After the autopsy results were released, New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati said looking at motives in a tragic situation like this was “very, very tricky,” per a clip shared by ABC-affiliated station WMUR.

He said investigators were looking into whether “money” or “the health situation” could have played a factor. “I think the big thing is to try not to speculate that there’s any one reason why something like this would happen. Homicide and suicide is usually much, much more complex than just one reason,” he noted.

“There’s still more information that we’re trying to gather to narrow down different things,” Agati insisted, confirming that the shootings likely occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time on Monday morning.

The update comes after it was reported that Ryan had been diagnosed with brain cancer prior to his death, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader.

In her TikTok account bio, Emily wrote that she was a “Brain Cancer Wife,” and that her account was her “personal diary,” which was “cheaper than therapy.”

In her last TikTok video, posted a day before her death, Emily acknowledged that she’d been in a “rut” and felt depressed because of her family’s situation.

“I’m making a point to get out of my depression and do this for my family,” she said.
