Meghan Markle invited Taylor Swift to be a guest on her podcast Archetypes, which explores the harmful labels placed on women. The podcast became very popular after it launched, reaching the top of the charts. Meghan hoped to have a meaningful conversation with Taylor about the challenges women face, and even sent her a personal letter. However, Taylor “respectfully declined” the invitation, according to The Mirror US.
Meghan Markle’s podcast Archetypes, which featured big names like Serena Williams, Paris Hilton, and Jameela Jamil, aired for one season on Spotify. Meghan reached out to Taylor Swift in 2023 with a personal letter, hoping to have her on the show, but Taylor declined through her representative.
Although Archetypes was initially popular, it faced controversy when Meghan and Prince Harry were reportedly dropped by Spotify. There was even a rumor that a Spotify executive called the couple “grifters,” causing a media stir.
Now, Meghan is moving on and working with Lemonada Media. She plans to launch a new podcast series next year and re-release Archetypes to reach more people.
Taylor Swift reportedly turned down Meghan Markle’s invitation to be on her podcast, even though Meghan sent her a personal letter. Earlier this year, Meghan shared her excitement about joining Lemonada Media, saying she’s happy to support a female-led company that creates interesting and entertaining podcasts. Meghan is looking forward to sharing her new projects and continuing her podcasting journey.
This isn’t the first time Taylor Swift has declined royal invitations in the past either.
Taylor Swift has turned down invitations from the royal family before. In May 2023, she was asked to perform at King Charles’ coronation concert, but she couldn’t accept because she was busy with her record-breaking Eras Tour. This information is mentioned in Omid Scobie’s book Endgame.
Even though Taylor Swift missed King Charles’ coronation, it seems she still has a good relationship with the royal family. When her tour came to the UK, Prince William and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, went to her sold-out concert at Wembley Stadium in June to celebrate William’s 42nd birthday.
Swift later shared photos from the concert on her social media, wishing Prince William a happy birthday.
A fan even tweeted about how funny it was to see Prince William dancing to “Shake It Off.”
Other royals were there too; William’s cousin, Zara Tindall, and her husband, Mike Tindall, also attended the concert, making it a memorable night for the British royals.
