The content creator was found dead a week after she went missing on Nov. 23
An autopsy has revealed new details about the death of beauty influencer Stefanie Pieper, who was found inside a suitcase in a forest a week after she went missing.
Pieper, 31, was reported missing by a colleague on Nov. 23, the Styrian Police Department previously shared in a press release, after she didn’t show up to a scheduled photoshoot. Per the release, Pieper’s 31-year-old ex-boyfriend — considered by police to be a suspect in the missing persons case — was arrested the next day.
On Nov. 25, police searched a wooded area south of Maribor, Slovenia, to which the ex-boyfriend had “close family ties,” but found no evidence of Pieper, the release continues.
After the ex-boyfriend was extradited from Slovenia to Graz, Austria, on Nov. 28, he allegedly “confessed to the crime and gave the police directions on where to search for the missing woman,” the release continues, though it does not give more details about the alleged crime.
Slovenian authorities searched the location he provided, and eventually Pieper’s body was found inside a suitcase buried in a forest, per police.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Patricia Weber, deputy head of media relations at the Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office, said that an autopsy determined that Pieper “had been subjected to violence” before her death — but added, “further information cannot be provided at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.”
Weber also confirmed to PEOPLE that the “accused is currently in custody.”

During the investigation, police also arrested two of the ex-boyfriend’s family members after “receiving indication” that they may have been connected to Pieper’s disappearance, though they were released from custody after his alleged confession and Pieper’s body was found, per the police’s Nov. 30 release.
