One woman’s life changed dramatically when she married a wealthy man, who she thought was a great blessing for her family.
In her Reddit post, she shared how he generously gave her parents expensive gifts, paid off her sister’s credit card debts, and got her brother a well-paying job at a good company.
Naturally, her in-laws admired him for his generosity and support during tough times, even though he had been unfaithful to her.
The first time he was unfaithful was right after she had their child, Kelly. Feeling vulnerable and thinking about leaving him, she asked her family for advice. Even though they were supportive, she had a hard time deciding and chose to stay with him. She told herself he cheated because she couldn’t be the best wife to him during her pregnancy.
Years later, when Kelly was about 12, her husband cheated again. This time, she was set on getting a divorce. However, her family and in-laws were against it because they wanted to avoid a scandal that could damage their reputation. She reluctantly went through with the divorce, but the custody battle for Kelly was tough, and her ex-husband’s legal team and in-laws had the advantage.
The woman eventually lost custody of Kelly but did get alimony and a fair settlement. Despite trying to stay in touch, her in-laws and her own parents made her look like the villain to Kelly. They said she was unforgiving and wouldn’t accept her ex-husband’s apologies. As a result, by the time Kelly was a teenager, she believed her mother was evil.
