A rapper surprised everyone by putting metal chains in his head, and now experts are warning others not to try it. Spanish musician Dan Sur made headlines in 2021 when he told his millions of TikTok followers that he turned his hair into chains.
In a video, he explained the strange procedure, saying, “I have a hook implanted in my head, and that hook has more hooks attached to my skull, under my skin. This is my hair. Golden hair. I’m the first rapper in history to have gold hair implanted.”
When people doubted that the rapper’s chained hair was real, he showed them by putting his chains in a glass of water to prove they don’t float. Although he seems happy with how it looks, experts are warning others not to try it.
While chain hair might look cool, it can be very dangerous for your health. Dr. Frank Agullo, a plastic surgeon, advised against putting anything into your head, saying that it can lead to serious risks. He told Yahoo! News, “Implants like this are not safe. They create an easy way for bacteria to get into the body, especially near the brain. Plus, the weight of the chains could cause them to come loose and even break the skull.”
Reports say that even when the rapper takes off the chains, he has permanent hooks still attached to his head. Dr. Mona Gohara, a dermatologist, warned that he could suffer permanent hair loss due to damage to his hair follicles from inflammation and scarring.
Despite these risks, the rapper has had the chains for three years and hasn’t reported any problems. However, Dr. Agullo still strongly advises against this procedure because of all the risks involved.
Experts emphasize that young people should think about the long-term effects of such choices. They suggest that there are safer and easier options, like wearing a wig with gold chains, instead of having them permanently attached to your head.
Dr. Gohara said, “Be careful! You can add gold strands to your hair instead. That’s a much better option.”
Since getting the chains, the rapper has been spotted wearing different colors, including gold, silver, and even rainbow chains to match his outfits. Despite the warnings about the risks, it seems he has no plans to remove them anytime soon.
