Hurricane Otis recently hit Acapulco hard. Arizbeth Dionisio Ambrosio, a Mexican police officer, was doing her duty in the damaged city, clearing fallen structures, trees, streetlights, and cars washed away by the storm. Then, suddenly, she heard a baby crying.

The baby’s mother, very upset and panicked, came up to Arizbeth. She explained that her 4-month-old baby hadn’t eaten in two days because she couldn’t find any baby food after the storm.

The police officer didn’t stay aside and worked a real wonder for the baby.

Arizbeth, 33, was not just one of the many police officers sent to help those affected by the storm. She’s also a mother of two, so she understood the pain of parents and children suffering from the disaster.

When she met the woman with the baby, Arizbeth focused on the child’s needs. She immediately asked how she could help. Since she was breastfeeding her own baby at the time, she didn’t hesitate and offered to feed the hungry child.

The woman with the baby gladly agreed. As soon as Arizbeth held the 4-month-old, the baby stopped crying and seemed comforted by the food and close contact.

Arizbeth’s kindness was totally sincere and she did it from all her heart.

Arizbeth is part of a special search and rescue team in Mexico City called “Zorros,” made up of 100 agents. Her team was sent to Acapulco to help after the Category 5 hurricane. Many people were still missing, and many others were suffering from the storm’s effects.

Military personnel and volunteers worked for days to clear debris in Acapulco. In such a tough situation, Arizbeth feeding the hungry baby gave people a sense of hope.

She was so focused on helping the baby that she didn’t even ask the family for more details. She didn’t know the baby’s name or where they were staying before the hurricane.

The police officer was rewarded for her extremely kind heart.

Arizbeth knew there was no time to hesitate when someone needed help. When the woman handed her the baby, Arizbeth thought about her own children at home. She felt peaceful and happy knowing she was helping the baby by giving him what he needed most at that moment.

A few days later, her boss asked her to come to the headquarters of the Mexico City police. After returning from her trip, Arizbeth went there right away. She met with Pablo Vázquez Camacho, a top police official, who asked her about her experience helping the baby.

Then, Arizbeth was told that her kind act had earned her a promotion from “policía primera” to “suboficial,” meaning she was now on track to become a supervisor and lead a team of officers.

And here’s another inspiring story about a celebrity: Salma Hayek is not only famous for her amazing career but also for breastfeeding a stranger’s hungry baby.
