Ohio Dentist and Wife Killings: Police Release New Footage of Person of Interest in Brutal Slayings

The Columbus Division of Police has released footage of the person of interest in the December killings of Spencer Tepe and his wife, Monique Tepe.

Officers in Columbus, Ohio, responding to a wellness check request, found the couple’s bodies inside their home on Dec. 30, PEOPLE previously reported, citing a Columbus Division of Police incident report. The couple was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Monday, Jan. 5, detectives said in a news release that the Tepes were killed in the upstairs of their home between 2:00 and 5:00 a.m., local time, on Dec. 30. The news release includes recovered video footage of a person of interest in the alley near the late couple’s home during that timeframe.

The person of interest was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and lighter pants, with their hands in their pockets. Their face could not be seen.

“We know there are questions and concerns surrounding this tragic incident. Detectives are working diligently to solve this case. We will continue to update you as the investigation progresses,” the news release read.

The Columbus Division of Police confirmed they have received community tips and urged anyone with information to come forward. They can call 614-645-2228, and anonymous tips can be made to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.

Co-workers and a friend of Spencer, 37, arrived at the couple’s residence after the beloved dentist did not show up for work on Dec. 30.

Dr. Mark Valrose, who owns the dentistry practice where Spencer worked, told dispatchers it was out of character for Spencer to now show up for work on time, WSYX previously reported.

Valrose got further concerned when Monique, 39, did not respond to his calls either.

Spencer’s friend told a 911 dispatcher, while waiting outside the house, that they could hear the children crying but were not able to get into the house, CNN previously reported, shedding light on the tragic crime scene.

The couple’s two young children, whose ages have not been revealed yet, were found physically unharmed inside the residence.

Family members set up a GoFundMe page for the couple’s children and have raised more than $150,000.
