Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s time as senior members of the royal family didn’t go as planned. A few years after their wedding, they decided to leave the royal family.
Many people in the royal family were hurt and shocked by their decision. But what made things worse was what they did after leaving. They revealed many secrets about the royal family, causing a lot of problems.
Now, Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the royal family is very bad, and no one knows if they will ever make up. Meghan often felt like she was in Kate Middleton’s shadow, and according to one royal expert, that wasn’t what she expected. The expert even claims that Meghan thought she would become the UK’s new Princess Diana.
Harry and Meghan’s relationship started with a quick, one-hour date in London in 2016. Meghan, who was then a star on the TV show “Suits,” was in London for the Wimbledon tennis tournament when they decided to meet.
They planned to have dinner, but things didn’t start well. They were supposed to meet at Soho House in London, but Harry was 30 minutes late.
“I couldn’t understand why he would be late,” Meghan said. “But he kept texting. He was like, ‘I’m in traffic. I’m so sorry.’”
“I was panicking, I was freaking out,” Harry added. “I was, like, sweating.”
Meghan wondered if Harry was usually late. “I was like, ‘Oh, is this what he does? Got it. Like this, I’m not doing. I’m not gonna sit…..”

“Like you’re one of those guys who have so much of an ego that any girl would sit waiting for a half hour for you,” Meghan continued. “I was just not interested in that.”
But when Harry finally walked into the restaurant, Meghan quickly realized he wasn’t late on purpose.
“I was a hot, sweaty, red ball of mess,” Harry recalled.
“You were just so sweet,” Meghan added. “You were genuinely so embarrassed about being late.”

Meghan and Harry’s first date was “refreshingly fun” and lasted about an hour. They met again the next day, and this time Meghan was five minutes late.
Harry joked, “I was like, ‘You can be as late as you want because I’m not leaving.’”
Harry realized then how amazing Meghan was. “That was when it hit me: this woman is everything I’ve been looking for.”
Harry was very happy when he started dating Meghan. They quickly began a serious relationship.
A friend in their documentary shared how excited Harry was. “Guys, I met a girl,” the friend remembered Harry saying. “We just met, but I think she’s the one.”

Less than two years later, Harry and Meghan decided to leave the royal family. On January 8, 2020, they announced they no longer wanted to be working members of the royal family.
“After many months of thinking and talking, we have decided to make a change this year,” they said.
“We want to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and become financially independent, while still supporting The Queen. Thanks to your encouragement, especially in recent years, we feel ready for this change. We plan to split our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honor our duties to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our charities.”
“This way, we can raise our son to appreciate the royal traditions he was born into, while also giving our family space to focus on our next chapter, including starting a new charity.”
Harry and Meghan concluded, “We will share more details about this exciting next step soon, as we continue to work with The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge, and everyone involved. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.”
The BBC reported that neither Queen Elizabeth nor Prince William knew about Harry and Meghan’s announcement before it was made public. Buckingham Palace was “disappointed,” and senior royals were “hurt.”
It didn’t take long for the hurt feelings to turn into anger. Harry and Meghan shared many details about royal life and their experiences. They revealed personal things about the royal family and made various accusations.
When Meghan Markle first joined the royal family, she seemed to fit in well. She and Kate Middleton appeared to be friends, often seen together at royal events. But things were different behind the scenes.
During their first meeting, Meghan felt she and Kate were not on the same page.
“When Will and Kate came over for dinner, it was my first time meeting her. I remember I was wearing ripped jeans and was barefoot,” Meghan recalled in their Netflix series.

Scobie, who is close to Harry and Meghan and considers himself a friend, explained that Meghan and Kate were not best friends.
“Meghan would agree that she and Kate were not close,” they wrote. “Their relationship didn’t improve much after Meghan became Harry’s girlfriend.”
Durand and Scobie added that Kate didn’t go out of her way to welcome Meghan into the family as people might have expected.
Meghan had hoped that Kate would help her learn about royal life and guide her through everything she needed to know. However, the authors say that didn’t happen.
“Meghan was disappointed that she and Kate didn’t bond over their shared roles,” Durand and Scobie wrote. “But Meghan wasn’t too upset about it. She wished Kate had checked in on her during the tough times with the press.”
As Kate Middleton was to become the future queen, it was inevitable that she would be graded “more important,” just like Harry felt that he was the “spare” to his brother, William, who one day was to become king.
Even so, Harry and Meghan went on royal tours, the first of which was to Australia. In his new book House of Beckham, which focuses on David and Victoria Beckham’s relationship, royal expert Tom Bower says that Meghan Markel saw herself as “the royal family’s new Diana” after arriving home from the successful royal tour of Australia, The Sun reported.

According. to royal commentator Jane Barr, Meghan Markle wanted to become a “superstar.”
“[Meghan] would not have been happy with the ultimately quiet or truly independent/non-royal lives that William and Harry’s cousins actually live,” Barr wrote in her From Berkshire to Buckingham newsletter, as per the NY Post.
Barr continued, “Meghan wanted to take her HRH and her title and be a superstar in her own sphere on the international stage,” adding that it would be “wholly separate from the control of the crown.”
